It is a small, glass-enclosed butterfly conservatory filled with tropical butterflies and moths from over 200 species. The conservatory is climate-controlled and planted with lush vegetation. A small gift shop is located in the same building.
The facility opened in 1997 and was moved to Mackinac Island in 2001. You can take the Mackinac Island Carriage Tours and visit the conservatory as part of the tour.
Summer Season: May to September
While the butterfly conservatory is handicap accessible with concrete stone pavers inside the conservatory, no cars are allowed on the island, and the path to the house and to the conservatory is compact gravel crush.
